POLAROID + PRISM
I took these photos in the months after my father died. I was staying with my mother on the South side of Maui. Every time I had the chance I drove to Hana and stayed out there. It is primal and less touched than other parts of Hawaii and inherently healing. I would just drive and watch the ocean for hours. Hawaii is possibly the most healing place in the world; it will heal you if you let it.
My cousin came with me sometimes and we'd shoot photos of each other. Hana is a secret place of goodness and ancient healing energy.
Bruno Sand Dunes
Bruno Sand Dunes, Idaho.
This was a spontaneous photoshoot when we saw the skull in the sand. It was late afternoon and the park was about to close and we were the last ones out.
Le Haut Desert Aerie
My friend Pauline was getting married to her true love James. We all went down to the desert and wound up at a very remote and perfect spot called Le Haut Desert Aerie. It's a small boutique hotel decorated in native South American accent. I thought it was Indonesian but they told me it was Mayan. I didn't get any pictures of the decor.
Pauline and James' vows were incredibly moving. Everyone cried as love was thick in the air, a healing balm draped over all.
These photos were taken of my friends right after the ceremony. I am loving digital pinhole and am so grateful to be experimenting with it.
